Create a Positive Mindset

Overcoming stress

Stress can come from all different angles. When stress is high everything can seem to feel overwhelming and hard to cope with. Improving your mindset and tackling your stress at its core rather than letting your stress overtake your energy and focus will help you grow and learn how to manage other hardships that can arise down the road. There are strategies to practice to help deal with stress. Here are some examples of how to develop a positive mindset.

  • Get comfortable with the discomfort of change: change brings change. It isn’t comfortable to live in the unknown or experience change at times. However, it is only temporary.

  • Challenge self-limiting beliefs: stop the negative self-talk in its tracks. We tend to have repeat thought patterns. The more you allow the negative thoughts to come up the stronger the feelings and thoughts can become. Challenge yourself to develop new thought patterns - ask yourself why are you having these feelings or thinking about yourself in this way. What are new thoughts you can have that are positive.

  • Adopt a mindset of how to overcome your obstacle with strength and grit: learn from the obstacles that arise. We have the choice to be stuck or empowered when curveballs happen. Instead of blaming others or waiting for a specific external factor to change take charge to create resilience in the hardtimes.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
